Ducati Team Rider And 2018 Pikes Peak Winner Carlin Dunne Also Known As ‘The King Of The Mountain’ dies in a tragic crash.

The four time Pikes Peak Winner was on his way to setting a new fastest record at the event when he came off his Ducati just 20 yards off the finish line on a Ducati Streetfighter V4 Prototype.

 

 

The Gazette reported that throughout the morning, riders were having  problems with a bump in the road near the summit.
Witnesses said that they believe Dunne hit the bump at high speed, causing his front wheel to spin out.

 

“Carlin will be remembered as a warm-hearted mentor with a competitive spirit. He was a gentle and thoughtful man who touched everyone who met him. We will always remember his contagious smile and genuine love for sport.”

Jason Chinnock, CEO of Ducati North America, said he and his company are devastated.
