2020 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R

The age of the quarter-liter screamers is back

‘It is more fun to ride a small bike fast than it is to ride a big bike slow’ which is why we think Kawasaki’s latest 2020 Ninja 250r will be one of the most fun quarter-liter sports bikes to step into the action.

Back in the day enthusiasts got a brief taste of some amazing 250cc machinery that revved as high as 20,000 rpm like the Honda CBR250r, Suzuki GSX-R250, Yamaha FZR250R, and the Kawasaki ZXR250, if we could expect any manufacturers to bring those days back we would put our money on Kawasaki.

Back in 2013-2014 when Kawasaki India took the plunge and launched the two-cylinder Ninja 250r we managed to put in considerable miles on it – its build quality was far superior to any 250cc motorcycle on the market and naturally it was heavier on the pocked in terms of parts and maintenance. Fast forward to 2020 and the sub 400cc motorcycle market is seeing a lot of action with the likes of Yamaha’s R3, The Benelli 302r, and a host of other street and adventure bikes.

DESIGN –

The baby ninja gets its sharp good looks from its older middleweight sibling the racy ZX6R complete with LED Headlamps and racing colors. We conclude that this is the sharpest looking Ninja 250 ever

ENGINE & ELECTRONICS –

Kawasaki showcased the bike at the Tokyo Motor Show in near production-ready form but the firm was tight-lipped about performance details

we expect the bike to make over 40 bhp, Showa USD forks along with Kawasaki Traction Control, Riding modes, and a quick shifter too.

With its 249cc inline-four cylinders engine that screams all the way over 17000rpm, the baby ninja promises to be a cracker of a machine for enthusiasts

The bike will be manufactured at Kawasaki’s Indonesia plant and will be primarily aimed at the Asian market Let us hope they do not water it down for the Indian market and bring it in full spec.

With all this power, performance, and tech packed into a quarter-liter package we expect prices to be on the higher end of things somewhere around the 5 Lakh mark.

Our Verdict –

We are eagerly looking forward to this machine and think it will be hugely popular among enthusiasts and track day junkies.

well done Kawasaki – Let The Good Times Roll
